When I registered for the CFA Level 1 Exam, I had just started a new job and had a pregnant wife, so I knew I was going to be very busy. This caused me to search for a time management program I could use that would help me stay on track to complete the readings. I found the TimePrep for CFA Level 1 Exam app during my searches and it looked like a great tool. I bought it and started playing around with it to create a study schedule.
I decided to strictly use CFA Institute material, and wanted to finish the readings and the End Of Chapter problems a month before the exam, so I could then review and take as many mock exams as possible. I discovered that it was very easy to input the time I had available to study and a schedule was created for me. I enjoyed being able to select the order of sections, as I wanted to study the areas I knew best at first and save the newer material for later, so it was fresher in my mind.
The app told me which pages to read and I could mark completed or failed. If I failed, it gave me the option of creating a new time to catch up or re-doing the entire schedule to incorporate being behind. I fell behind quickly and often, so it was nice to be able to tell the app where I was, the times I had available to study, and create a new plan. If I didn’t put enough time in to be able to complete my studies, the app had me create additional times. My plan of finishing a month before the exam turned into 3 weeks and then into 2 weeks. There is a LOT of material for Level 1, so it is very important to stick to a study schedule. With the help of TimePrep, I was able to finish studying 2 weeks before the exam, which left me some time to review and take mock exams.
I thought I had my schedule set, but my daughter decided to throw a wrench in the plans and was born 3 weeks early – 3 days before the exam. After spending 2 days in the hospital helping my wife recover, we went home on Friday, which left me a few hours to do some last minute prep, buy a pencil sharpener, and get a lunch packed. After finishing the morning section in about 1.5 hours, and feeling pretty good about it, I asked the proctors if it was possible to turn in the afternoon section early and leave. They told me this was indeed an option. I ate lunch, cruised through the afternoon section in just over an hour (not feeling as good about it), and went home to be with my 3 day old daughter. After a gruelling 8 week wait, I found out that I passed! Talk about a good feeling.
Without TimePrep, there is no way I would have been able to get through the material. I was overwhelmed many times during studying, but knew if I stuck to the plan, I would get to the end. I will definitely be purchasing TimePrep for CFA Level 2 Exam in order to have the best study plan and be able to get through the material. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to pass the CFA Exams.
